ILORIN - THE Provost of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin Dr Adedayo Yusuf Abdulkareem has called on the Federal Government to enact a law that would make quackery a criminal offence punishable under the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr Abdulkareem made the call at a press conference in Ilorin to mark his 100 days in office and the 30th year anniversary of the college.

He explained that quackery has become a cankerworm in all facets of the Nigerian society and that it is imperative it is tackled headlong once and for all

''There is quackery not only in education but in all other existing professions; the only way out is for the Federal Government to enact a legislation that would make quackery a criminal offence, that I believe is the major way out",he stressed.

The Provost of the college of education also stressed the importance of dress code across the colleges in Nigeria because the graduates of the institutions would go into the society to be teaching the innocent children.

According to him,'"to us here, the education we offer is as qualitative as the issue of dress code for our students, on these we don't compromise, because our products will go into the society to teach the innocent wards, we have inculcated the culture and tradition of moderate dressing into them, and we are proud that it is being noticed." Very soon, the Provost said the college would commence degree courses in education only, adding that every other needed arrangements have been perfected.

He noted that the general downturn in the education sector in Nigeria is as a result of incessant strikes which he believed should be discouraged in the interest of all.
